Canadian Tux

TNA SUTTER boyfriend-fit denim shirt

ROXY denim jacket (similar here)

SNEAKS with cutouts (similar here)

My bro Matty bought me my longboard awhile back and has recently been teaching me to be a better rider. Our rides together in the past couple of weeks served as inspiration for this shoot. We took the camera out for a night cruise and snapped these shots.

I am wearing a summer version of a Canadian tuxedo for these shots.  Who knew that denim on denim on denim would resurrect after the 80’s? But it did, and it's amazing! As long as you mix up the shades of denim you are set to go.

Is the denim jacket too much for you? If so, don’t worry, I suggest wearing either medium shade denim pants or shorts with a darker denim shirt rolled up at the sleeves (for a more casual feel) or buttoned to the neck and covered with a black blazer (for a formal feel).  Accessorize the outfit however you want to, in order to make it your own.

Definitions of Canadian Tuxedo on Urban Dictionary (kinda funny):

1.     Canadian Tuxedo

You see someone wearing jeans and a jean jacket..."Hey Denim DAN, nice Canadian Tuxedo"

2.     Canadian Tuxedo

Look at that goofy canuck in his canadian tuxedo

3.     Canadian Tuxedo

Yeah, s'called a Canadian Tuxedo.

SUP.
Had an amazing weekend under the sun.  Here in Canada we are finally starting to experience summer weather.  Therefore, I have spent every weekend for the past 3 weeks in a bathing suit such as this tribal patterned crisscross back bikini from Macy's.  This style is great for playing around, whether you are wakeboarding, swimming or stand up paddle boarding (SUP).  I hope you are able to take some time away from the desk this summer to do the same. xo

Running with it.

OBEY panel hat

CHEAP-O sunnies (random store)

TOPSHOP jersey

ZARA Skort

ISABEL MARANT sneakers

I have been waiting for the moment when I could wear sneakers and slouchy gym shirts and still feel trendy. Growing up I was always into sports.  I participated in everything from hockey and soccer to wakeboarding and horseback riding. So as you can see, I am taking this trend and 'running' with it.

As one of the biggest themes for the general consumer this spring and summer, this trend first emerged on the 2012 spring/summer runways of Altuzarra, Rag and Bone, and Alexander Wang.  Track pants and baseball jersey scuba suit derived tops were mixed with pencil skirts, sculpted body-con dresses and tailored outerwear.

HINT: When wearing the trend this season, mix tailored pieces (like the Zara skirt) with slouchier pieces. Avoide wearing all baggy clothes together.  Heals can also look great with this trend.  I recommend strappy, pointed toe heels like these ones at TOPSHOP.

Fighting for Fashion.

I know I belong in the fashion world but already I have faced numerous rejections trying to get a job in the business, yet, i'm not even trying to be a designer.  Is it the economy or is it the influx of girls being influenced by the media in high school trying to make their glamourous and often unrealistic dreams into a reality? I have to admit, I was one of those girls in high school that watched The Hills and thought that Lauren and Whitney had the perfect life.  But as I have grown up, I have learned the realities of the industry and I am still here, fighting for fashion.  In my experience this is what you have to do when making a career in the industry, fight. Fight for your love of fashion, fight for your decision of fashion, fight for your style of fashion and finally, fight for a job in fashion.

I'm fighting.....now, will you?
